I love Italian sandwiches they are my quintessential comfort food.
Jewish delis know how to pile it high, but there is something about a warm toasted Italian parm hero oozing sauce and cheese, that can literally melt the day away. I think it has something to do with putting you in a food coma, which I am totally fine with 😉

My grandmother always told me that my grandfather insisted on going out to dinner once a week, even when they were raising four children under the age of 12. This tradition has been passed on to my parents. I don’t see my parents every week, but it always feels like a Sunday dinner when we dine out.
Krave Cafe, highly rated Zagat restaurant, is located in the downtown area of Newton NJ, with a nice bold sign you can’t miss. My parents had been there once before, but this time we were able to be seated in their outside patio area to enjoy the lovely summer evening. Just before desert, I went inside to have a look at their dining area. It was nice to see a good mix of young adults and older couples enjoying the food and BYOB experience.
I must say my family has good taste in food.
Service: Excellent, we had two to three servers at each platting.
Food: Inventive and flavorful
Décor: Open patio & well shaded; warm tones and dim lighting indoors.
Beverage: BYOB, full coffee bar and mock-tail menu.

I’d walked pass Frank Restaurant years before I stepped inside. Always noticing the white picket fence and thinking next time. Once I learned The Meatball Shop founders got there kitchen expertise at this place, I went.
Now, this is my default eatery for a mid-week meal for two. I’ve never make a reservation and have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. There is no bad seat in this establishment because the food is amazing. I would stand and eat, to be honest. This is great Italian food just the way I like it, saucy.
Porta is a most necessary pit stop if you are down the Jersey shore.
The laid back vibes, excellent food and live jazz (bunch time)
makes this Asbury Park eatery, a hot spot.
