During a friend’s visit back to the US, I played tourist for the day. We walked through Brooklyn Bridge Park, shopped in Sephora and took part in happy hours near Barclays.
It was a blast and like all good times, it flew by.

Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel
A fresco is made by mixing water-based pigments with plaster, the color is set when the plaster dries. The Sistine Chapel represents the height of Renaissance art. Michelangelo made the world’s most famous fresco by standing up right with his hand titled, not lying on back as many assumed.
Whether or not you’ve been to the Vatican, this art installation is awe inspiring. Now, for the first time you can see clearly see the human form in the eyes of Michelangelo and his references to the biblical tales.
After doing some more research on Michangelo, I learned that his one of the most prolific and greatest artist of all time because he was so versatile. He received praise relatively early in his career and after sculpting the statue David and Pietà , he then commissioned works for the wealthiest and powerful individuals of his day.

Oculus
Oculus has been opened since summer 2016. The Westfield shopping center at World Trade Center, literally has it all from big chains like Banana Republic and Apple to luxury boutiques like Dior and Aesop. Not to mention a Wework office space for budding entrepreneurs.
The interior is lined with bone white pillars that form a skeleton like shape. Even more striking, the ceiling spans over 95 feet high, tremendous enough to make any busy commuter spare an upward glance. Â At the very least, if you have the time, go check out what $4 billion dollars looks like for yourself.
According to the Santiago Calatrava Valls, architect, the building resembles a bird flying from a child’s hands. The building is a welcome contrast to the standard skyscrapers as well as a useful 24 hour transfer point.
