Several weeks ago on a whim, I went to Rockwood Music Hall and ended up seeing Justina Maria Soto. As I was walking to the venue, I found some of her music and got the sense that the show would be in the direction of smooth jazz vibes. Her voice and sound blew me away. The only way to describe the set is to say that it was a mix of Adele and Corrine Rae Bailey. I bought her CD and I’ve listened to the album while driving and getting my life together on a Saturday mornings. She has soul and it comes through in her music.

Ben Caron, who came on after Soto, deserves an honorable mention. This boy can sing too! He is based in LA and preforms with such passion. Check out his sound. The great thing about the venue is it’s free entrance fee. You enter order a drink or two and watch singer-song writers preform is an intimate setting.

A lovely evening, with light nibbles. This is definitely a place where you have an opportunity to sample the entire menu. The dishes were all very simple and fresh, yet one or two elements brought more depth. We were transported to the Hampton’s with the decor; light wooden booths, airy walkway through the restaurant and a risky magnetic word game, mounted on the walls, that reminded you of late night shenanigans.

Not pictured, Angry Crab Cake and the Pulpo Flatbread listed under the “Medium-ish Things.” Really yummy and definitely shareable.

While eating at the diner Cup and Saucer, I noticed a new store with black tinted windows across the street.

The signage didn’t, at least to me, reveal what the store had to offer. If owner’s goal was to intrigue nosy people, like myself, they hit the mark.

Walking into Fomosa Cafe was nothing that I expected. Chinatown is a very old area surrounded by sturdy brick buildings. This shop was a ultra modern café. Everything was sleek and black with bright graphic murals throughout. Foreign pop music played near the counter as you reviewed the menu.

The menu had so many option, but the namesake bubble tea was chosen and it was a great option, for the warm spring afternoon. The best part about ordering bubble tea is watching the machine seal the top and then breaking the seal with your straw.

The staff was very courteous and didn’t mind me snapping photos. Yelp reviews mention the food is good, which I will keep in mind my next go around.

Wandering around SoHo can be overwhelming, there are endless amount of retails shops, tourists and eateries.

Walking into the restaurant Sant Ambroeus eased the hustle of the hectic atmosphere. The interior design captured a tranquil Italian dining room with mid-century modern wood paneling and splashes of modern art through-out.

I am going to frank and say that I would come back just for the bread basket and individual coffee pots! In fact, It was so good, we ordered the associated pastry basket. The service was everything you would expect from a five star restaurant, yet it had the comfort of your local café. Our waiter was polite and astute enough to see we were in no rush, that we able to sit and nibble for well over 30 minutes before being asked if we should have the kitchen fire up our last course. The lemon ricotta pancakes were decadent. The eggs were like clouds of fluffy goodness, you could just melt. The next time I have guests in town, we will be eating here, not that I need an excuse to come back. Simply Bellissimo!
