Tommy Bahama clothing is synonymous with athletes and boating aficionados. I had a bathing growing up that was tropical patterned, which lasted me years because of the great quality. What I actually loved about this brand is their food.
I’ve only been to their restaurants in tropical settings, but just recently family friends suggested we visit their NYC location. They were guests before and said it was great. They have great taste and the experience was just that.
Fifth Avenue is flooded with shoppers and tourists some on a mission, some lost, so I was blown away by the soothing vibe restaurant sets. Between the live jazz, tranquil decor and potted Palm trees my group and I melted into our seats for over three hours. I had the crab bisque, which is a must for me, supremely classic. We all sampled the crispy calamari, coconut crusted crab cakes, and world famous coconut shrimp with an awesome chutney. The entrees were wide ranging from the Tiger Shrimp pasta, Jerk pork tenderloin, Blackened fish tacos and Parmesan crusted chicken.

Our meal ended not reluctantly, by sampling all their desserts, as pictured above, which were all so delicious and overly sugary, just purely simple. I always envy the European style dinning where you can leave a restaurant when you are good and ready, Tommy Bahama hit the mark!
Traditional Ramen broth can be chicken or beef based, but now that Miso Ramen is becoming more popular and readily available, pescetarians and vegetarians can rejoice! With my first bowl of Miso Ramen, I was expecting a light udon type broth, but the version I had was rich and hearty, there was the perfect balance of texture with crunch from bean spourts and scallions complimenting the tenderness of the curly noodles.
Prawn Me Ramen
My latest Miso Ramen meal, pictured above, was at Ochado in the lower east side of New York. The small restaurant was filled and my party gladly opted for bar seating. It was such a treat to see the chefs working quite precisely on each order.
I look forward to more bowls of Ramen and won’t mind waiting for the meal because it’s truly artful in presentation and taste.
Lately, I have been craving Italian food and thus I’ve been eating around trying new places and luckily my research has paid off because each one has been a hit.
Roberta’s– My tip is to go early for whatever service your interested in because it’s first come, first come seating.
The more people you have the more sampling you can do. Also, great Blood Mary’s!
Trattoria La Sorrentina– Get the Cozze Marinara aka the mussels and keep the bowl with sauce to dip the pizza crust in.
If you have room for dessert, the tiramsiu is top notch.
Alidoro– It’s hard to find a good Italian sub in New York with fresh ingredients. Avoid the line by going post 1:30.
Not pictured… Frank restaurant and vera bar- This place is awesome with a great rustic vibe. The food was rich with flavor and the portions were generous.
The night after my visit Chrissy & John Legend were enjoying the Thursday Special Lasagna Verdi Bolognese. #coolpoints
I was asked what the last good movie I saw. I am not a active theater goer, so most of my suggestions were from HBO, Showtime and Netflix.
Pauly Shore Stands Alone– This is a true-life small comedy tour through the mid-west, Pauly is hardworking, shady and laugh out loud funny. The jury is still out on his actual mental state.
Mistaken For Strangers– What a great band. What an intense sibling relationship. It’s up to the viewer to decide if the older brother fails, while on tour with his younger brother’s band.
Intouchables– Truly heartwarming, funny and french. A true-story of two men from different worlds that form the ultimate bromance.
Baggage Claim– Robin Thicke is a fool. Paula is awesomely clueless when it comes to love and takes you on a major frequent flyer spending spree. The incessant banter between Jill Scott and Adam Brody adds a great comedic touch.
Chef– This movie is beyond relevant, twitter fights, food trucks, tasting menus, Sophia Vergara and Rob Lowe, you can’t really top that. Eat before or during or you may suffer.
